House Trap Replacement
When you have repeated backups and think you have a house trap, your best bet is to call for a camera evaluation so we can confirm you have one and then replace it with straight pipe. House traps are usually 3-5 feet below your floor, but we have seen them as low as 9 feet below.
Replacement typically takes less than a day. Service outages are usually limited to two hours.
What is a House Trap?
A house trap is an outdated device designed to keep sewer gasses at bay. They work just like the U-shaped trap underneath your sink. In Milwaukee, most pre-1900 homes have house traps. Some 1900-1930 homes have them as well.
House traps can break or clog easily: they are made of clay and have a sharp bend. Once broken or clogged, it is hard to get an auger or snake through, and very few cameras can get past them.
